Windows Me's Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) program is a network address translation (NAT) program, not a proxy server. It works with all types of products, not just Microsoft. I've run it successfully on Windows 98 SE, Windows Me, and Windows 2000 Professional with Agent, Eudora, Netscape, News Xpress, etc.

Home Network Internet Sharing - Newbie
I directly connect to DSL modem through LAN cable for internet. At first , I made a network bridge (unknowingly) for internet access as my PC as host computer for internet sharing. Later, I realized I don't require a *network bridge setup with internet sharing*,so I deleted the network bridge.

internet sharing on home network (ethernet)
Last time I tried (not at all like your question) anything like this I did, PC1 Linux 2 NICS (main office network) (test network- hub) PC2 / PC3 / PC4 Windows all connected to the hub. Worked fine. I cant find any info on this since a search is swaped with stuff on basic internet sharing which im finding no trouble

I can't get the internet sharing to work but file and print sharing as well as peer to peer games are working just fine. NAT is "Network Address Translation" and it translates local IP requests into Internet requests) Maybe your DSL modem has the NAT router function in it though. At any rate, something needs to be doing the 'internet sharing' (NAT router) function; either the modem, a separate router/switch, or one of your computers.

Many things are possible, but unless you create an isolated network that only connects to your Mac via a 2nd ethernet card or maybe an Airport, I would advise against enabling IP sharing on your Mac.
